Ruperra Castle Gutted December 1941

Ruperra Castle was chosen by the Ministry of Defence in 1939 as an ideal place for the training of soldiers for the coming war. The Morgan family of Tredegar House hardly ever used it by this time and after all the furniture and hangings had been taken away
it would provide excellent accommodation for officers and men. Furthermore its situation was prefect to detect enemy aircraft coming over the Bristol Channel.  From 1939 to the end of the war, many different units were trained there.
Our next event describes what happened on the 6th of December when the Tyne and Wear Electrical Engineers were stationed there.
